ID card
printers are intended to dynamically — one at a
time or in batches — produce personalized or
different cards or keytags for everything from
accreditation to employee identification.
A feed hopper at one
end of each printer takes a stack of
standard-sized blank or preprinted cards and
prints them one by one using either one or four
colours of ink. In addition to printing a bar
code symbol onto each card, other variable text
and graphics information can be printed — even a
picture of the cardholder — and each card can be
automatically laminated or covered with a clear
protective "lacquer."
