These
scanners, as the name implies, are normally
fixed in one place and are directly connected to
a computer system. Rather than being hand-held
and used actively by a human being to locate and
scan bar code symbols, we assume that these
scanners stay in one place and that the symbols
are being brought to them. Scanners like these
most commonly find use in Auroras system
solutions that are installed into industrial
applications where bar codes need to be read
from boxes or other items moving on a conveyor,
or within some sort of automated machinery.
